About this artwork

Mozart composed the Great Mass, fulfilling a promise, by improving Constanze's health and achieving the desired marriage.
The presentation of the work in Salzburg in 1783 served as a request for peace and reconciliation with his father, who had not consented to the union.
Kyrie, the second movement, was composed for Constanze and would be interpreted by her, demonstrating that more important than fame, glory and wealth, was the love for the woman and muse, who had become, in his world, the nearest God's.
Reconciliation never happened and, perhaps because of this, the work was never finished either.
