I am an artist, visual designer, and writer from Senegal and currently traveling between Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, Mauritius, and the Bay Area. I paint to explore how anxiety, depression, and trauma affect identity and shape our relationship to freedom. I am fascinated by the 'cry for help' and all the ways in which it manifests on the human body when it is not externalized.

Art was never considered a worthwhile adventure in my community. I believe this is because art has a nagging way of leading us to grapple with and manifest our emotions, which is considered utterly pointless in a culture that sees stoicism as the highest of virtues. So from a young age, I pursued art to create space for my feelings and emotions. Today, I use art to resist the idea that numbing is an antidote to pain and grief.
