About this artwork

There is a hint in this image of a golden age before modernity, or alternatively, more than a hint of the horror of retrospective nostalgia. Or a combination of the two. Either way, you leave it all behind when you enter their portals. No one can reach you there; this is surely what they mean by ‘impenetrable’. And by default it is also what they mean by ‘safe’.
