Carlos Larracilla, 1976. Mexico.
Carlos Larracilla began to paint at 16 during a difficult time in his life in which art became both a refuge and medicine to the deep pain he was going through.
His body of work is personal with a recognisable common thread and evolves with the use and experimentation of diverse resources and materials, which makes each one of his pieces different and unique. Larracilla's studies the atmosphere surrounding women and animals to reflect his own thoughts and feelings, and as a path towards inner exploration.
Analysing the work of great masters such as Van Gogh, Rembrandt, and Bosco has served the Mexican artist as a source of inspiration and a way for him to expand his artistic knowledge.
