About this artwork
My work is about men's relationship with their own bodies - and the delusions, fantasies, and toxic emotions that are attached to that relationship. There is a repetition of self-flagellation (often expressed through exercise) exposing the roots of religious oppression, self-hatred, and mental illness. Imbedded in a macabre, mercurial and humorously self-deprecating grotesqueness often used to mask a dangerous mix of fear and frustrated anger.
