About this artwork
This painting depicts the spiritual crowning of the sacred lion. The painting took three months of work to get the details perfect
My method of painting is subtractive. I spray very thin acrylics with an airbrush, then remove layers and model forms with various fine tip erasers. This process is repeated many times to build tonal values and depth. The result is photographic and sculptural in appearance. It's a technique that I've developed and used for over 30 years.
