About this artwork
This piece is my latest work. It depicts a world in which human and machine are combined in harmony. The dancing figures represent the dynamics that are created by the human physical presence in space. Through all the mechanical elements that surround every figure, humans emerge triumphant through art. I created this piece in the first few months of 2017, whilst traveling between village and city, and feeling the difference in society between each of them. Technology has overthrown the society, forcing people to stay chained to their screens, using social networks as a way to desocialize instead of their initial intent. Only through art and aesthetics will we rise to a point where we can use technology in harmony with the human nature, to continue the evolution not only of the human society, but also of the human mind. Design can be a great tool to help the mind of today’s people in each and every problem they face. The aesthetics of an image is detrimental to educate and shape the mind, opening horizons for new ideas and ways of life. In addition to that, ideas can be very easily spread to society through social design, as it is a way to reach all the social strata. There is no limitation in understanding and representing, as images can be understood by everyone. As such, social design is a powerful global tool of communication, that can change the world. “One percent” is based in the idea of communication and the importance of physical subsistence. It is a comment on the way human relations have developed in today’s world. For that reason, I used only markers and ink on paper. I believe that relying on advanced applications is not necessary for something to be remarkable, as the human factor is the one that creates uniqueness
